Thanks for the George Michael and ABBA--got the chimney lined today (red hot baby) but I kinda think winter will never come, good luck.   I'm predicting rain.

Ed's bike is a 1993(?) BMW K75s.  Hopefully it's made it out of the US now Smiley

I will bet $100 that it makes it his next stop-Mauritania, that is if he is stilll on track !

The exclusion that applies to this bet is that it is intact upon arrival. If those nincompoops can't get the date right, it is highly unlikely that the bike has all its parts where they are supposed to be.

Great trip!   I spend a fair amount of time these days staring at a map and reading Horizions Unlimited. My trip is still in the planing stage.  You have my attention because I also have a k75s (amoung other bikes). I thought I would trade it for something else because  it would not tolerate sub-standard fuel. I have no such fuel locally to test it with ,  and it  is 1000 miles to Mexico to get some crappy P-mex. Please let us know just how this bike does. I know where there  are three (3)  K75's  with OVER  300,000 miles.  But they all had a steady diet of reasonable  gasoline as well as good service.  Also, I have a small selection of spare parts  that I do not think you (or I ) will need, but  it could happen....      Call  me at 205-253-7973      if you need any  help that I might provide. I would love to be a part of it all.         ratbikemike

The k-75 is indeed still running.  As is mine here in Alabama.  That does not seem to be a problem at all. I'm not sure how low an octane rating the gas used has been, but what ever it is, the bike starts and goes just fine thank you.  Now, staying up right while crossing hundreds of miles of sand 'roads' does seem to have been  a issue.  To much weight on the front make it difficult to 'float' the front wheel over the sand as needed.   Also, there doesn't seem to be much of a good side to land on.   I'm sure the crash bars help a lot.        God I love this trip.       ratbikemike

dear ratbikemike,

Any more news about the bet. If any monies are owed, let me know. I don't want to pay exhorbitant interest a few miles down the road!

Happy trails,
